Family formal photos can be a frustrating 20 to 30 minutes during a wedding day if they aren’t properly organized. Our goal is to make family photos on your wedding day enjoyable and efficient. Here are four tips for enjoyable family photos…
1. Make a detailed list for your photog. I always send a questionnaire with a space for a detailed list. Include first and last names for everyone so that we’re not searching for the wrong Susan or Joe. The faster we get through the photos the happier everyone will be!
2. Have a designated person to round up family members on the list at an agreed upon space.
3. Spend ten minutes getting photos after your ceremony while trays of cocktails and hors d’oevre circulate in the family gathering spot. They’ll enjoy the treats and special treatment. This will also ensure that we get candid photos of important family members for your gallery.
4. When you return from photos, family will be relaxed, ready to greet you and be glad to take photos.

Bonus tip: We love celebrating YOU on this day, but it’s also important to celebrate the family that is important to you. Mingling before and after photos will give your photo team the ability to capture special candid moments with those important family members.
