How to Not Feel Awkward During Your Engagement Photos

Engagement sessions are an exciting way to celebrate your upcoming wedding and capture the love between you and your partner. If you’re not used to being in front of a camera it may feel awkward during your engagement photos. Fortunately, with a little preparation and the right mindset, you can feel relaxed, have fun, and have phenomenal photos! Here are three tips to not feel awkward during your engagement photos.

Choose a Photographer That Makes You Feel Comfortable

The first step to not feeling awkward during your engagement session is choosing a photographer you feel comfortable with. My goal is to make you feel relaxed, and help you get the most authentic shots. I know what poses will make you feel confident and what prompts will make for natural photos.

Communicate Your Concerns

I know we all have a good side, so let me know. At each session we’re constantly communicating and if there are specific shots you’re not comfortable with I’ll be able to tell from the look on your face and we’ll fix it! If you’re feeling awkward about being in front of the camera during your engagement photos, it’s normal, and I’ll do my best to help ease the nerves. We are going to have fun, trust me!

Have Fun and Be Playful

Remember that engagement photos are supposed to be fun! This is a special time for you and your boo. If we aren’t laughing and having a good time, then I’m doing something wrong. Don’t be afraid to let loose and go for a pose that seems strange; feeling awkward during engagement photos when given silly prompts is going to happen, but those prompts will turn into some of the sweetest photos. I wouldn’t ask you to do something that isn’t going to look good. Your engagement session is meant to be authentic and joyful.

Final Thoughts

Feeling awkward during engagement photos is completely normal, I’m confident I can capture stunning, natural shots. Trust me, be present with your partner, and don’t forget to enjoy the experience!

Always,

Ceciily Elaine
